I’ve seen this tag floating around a lot recently, so I thought I’d finally get around to answering it.
If you’d like to get involved with this tag, please feel free to copy the questions below!
Author you’ve read the most books from:
I have so many favourite authors that I’ve read lots of books from, but it would definitely be either between Terry Pratchett (because Discworld is a mammoth series) or the legend that is Stephen King because all of his books are amazing!
Best sequel ever:
The Fellowship Of The Ring – or really just all of The Lord Of The Rings books to The Hobbit.
The Demon Lord of Katana (Mallorean #3) by David Eddings. It’s an awesome fantasy series, and I’d recommend reading it if you haven’t!
Drink of choice while reading:
Hot Chocolate. Or, if it’s a summer day and i’m sitting outside a cloudy lemonade.
E-Reader or physical book?
You can’t beat the feel and smell of a physical book. Or, the aesthetic of lots of books on a shelf… but I do like using a Kindle when I travel abroad to save luggage space.
Fictional character you would have actually dated in high school:
Simon Lewis from The Mortal Instruments 100%. Geeky, loves graphic novels and anime and plays in a band? Yep.
Glad you gave this book a chance:
Shiverton Hall by Emerald Fennell. Part of me was put off at first as it’s aimed at young readers, but I ended up loving the story!
Hidden gem book:
The Stormlight Archive series by Brandon Sanderson. I haven’t seen much around this series but it’s one of my favourites. Sanderson is incredible!
Important moment in your reading life:
Of course it’s reading Harry Potter and The Philosopher’s Stone for the first time. And queuing up for hours at midnight to get the newest Harry Potter book of the time.
Reading Roald Dahl books for the first time is also a pretty important moment which predates HP and was the first time I truly remember falling in love with reading.
The Man in The High Castle by Philip K. Dick. I wasn’t too much of a fan to be honest with you.
Kinds of books you won’t read:
I am open to reading pretty much any kind of book. I never really read Romance fiction unless it’s tied in with a YA novel.
Longest book you’ve read:
Hmm… maybe The Complete Works of William Shakespeare? That’s a pretty hefty compendium I have to tell you. Although, they are separate stories/plays so I’m not sure if that really counts…
Major book hangover because of:
All of the A Song of Ice And Fire books! I’ve been waiting for The Winds of Winter for what feels like forever </3
Number of bookcases you own:
At the moment, we have 3 bookcases in the flat, but we’re hoping to upgrade one of them to something bigger as we have the space. We also use quite a lot of cupboards for storing our books.
One book you have read multiple times:
All of the Harry Potter, Roald Dahl, Lord Of The Rings and His Dark Material books.
Preferred place to read:
Either in bed with a cosy blanket and hot chocolate, or whilst sunbathing in the garden (when I lived with my parents) with my little Yorkshire Terrier Olly curled up at my feet.
Quote that inspires you from a book you’ve read:
“Those who don’t believe in magic will never find it.” ― Roald Dahl, The Minpins. My all time favourite quote, I feel like this can apply to ‘magic’ in so many different situations.
Hmmm… I don’t know if I have many regrets. Although, I did used to care what people thought about me reading so much and for a while I ended up stopping. Thankfully, this only lasted about a month.
Series you started and need to finish:
The Expanse series by James S.A Corey. I accidentally bought and started reading the 3rd book in the series and need to read them from the beginning!
Three of your all time favourite books:
To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K Rowling, Scar Tissue by Anthony Kiedis.
Unapologetic fangirl for:
Harry Potter and The Lord of The Rings. I read the books from both series all the way through at least once a year! And, of course watch the films all over again too!
Very excited for this release:
The Winds of Winter!! Come onnnnn. Feels like I’ve been waiting my whole life. I’m also really excited for Legend, the next book in the Caraval series by Stephanie Garber.
Worst bookish habit:
Buying too many books and not even making a dent in my existing TBR pile…Also, I don’t do it too often, but I have been guilty of reading more than 2 books at once.
X marks the spot: start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:
The sun and her flowers – Rupi Kaur.
Your latest book purchase:
The Art of My Neighbor Totoro. Such an incredible book and it’s so much fun looking at all of the different character and concept art.
Zzz-snatcher book (last book that kept you up way too late)
All of the books in The Mortal Instruments series. I read them whilst on holiday in Spain and I definitely stayed up until 4am more than once to finish them on that trip!
So there you have it – my answers to the A-Z bookish survey! Let me know if you answer the questions too, and of course feel free to just copy them over.
